What is "Green City Marketplace"?
In the Green City Marketplace, we will seek to meet the needs of municipalities
around the world who are interested in either exploring or actively implementing
policies to improve their environmental performance.
Green City Marketplace will offer advice, information and current contacts
for suppliers of products and services relating to:
- "Planning green", for example, by devising plans which take environmental
impacts of actions flowing from them into account, and seeking the lowest
possible adverse effects.
- "Finding `green' investors"... locating firms which specifically
meet environmental criteria in their facilities and operations and are
looking for compatible municipalities in which to locate, e.g., ISO 14001-certified
companies.
- "Doing green things" at the municipal government level... for example,
managing fleets of vehicles and city buildings and facilities in ways
that generate less pollution and produce savings in energy, water, and
waste disposal costs.
- "Buying green" for municipal governments... purchasing products and
services that meet specified environmental performance criteria.
In each case, we will begin with a discussion of how advertisers are
chosen. We will also suggest how to sort out different and sometimes competing
claims about what they offer. Only advertisers willing to meet the stated
criteria for inclusion here will be accepted.
